Israel,Palestine to respond to Goldstone report
UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon

UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, says there is not enough evidence yet to say whether Israel and the Palestians are complying with UN demands to investigate the Gaza conflict.

They have been asked to respond by today to last year’s Goldstone report, which accused both nations of war crimes in Gaza. In a report to the UN General Assembly, Mr. Ban said a ruling on the issue is not possible since probes by both nations are ongoing.

The General Assembly has demanded that both Israel and Hamas launch independent investigations into their conduct during the 22-day Israel operation which began in December 2008.

Both submitted dossiers to the UN before the end of January. Israel says its army has disciplined two officers for their conduct during the operation.
