As part of efforts to conscientise the Ghanaian public on health related issues and bring to bear the challenges facing the health sector, a twelve-page health newspaper, “Your Health Partner” has been launched in Accra.  The paper is to help Ghanaians make informed decisions regarding health matters.

The editor of the paper, Cephas Larbi, noted that people would generally not think about their health until they are on the verge of losing it, adding that there is no newspaper specifically established to educate Ghanaians on health related issues.

He said the publication will collaborate with all stakeholders in the health sector to scale down the pain and suffering people experience as well as help them change their lifestyles in the drive towards a state of optimal health.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, a member of Health Partner, the group behind the paper, David Nana Edjah said challenges faced at health centres would be factored into the publication to raise awareness of the challenges facing the health sector.

Mr. Edjah indicated that knowledge on health issues could give people useful information to administer first aid before visiting the hospital.

A Deputy Director at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, James Ntim Amponsah who represented the Controller General, said the Department will support the publication.

The paper was launched by the Chairman for the occasion, Frank Maucay Anim-Appiah a member of the National Media Commission.
