VEEP receives Japanese Volunteers in Accra
John Mahama, Vice President of Ghana

Ten volunteers of the Japan Overseas Corporation have called on the Vice President John Dramani Mahama to announce their arrival in Ghana.  The Volunteers will be providing voluntary services in the teaching of Science and Mathematics in 10 pubic schools across the country.

Receiving the volunteers at the Castle Osu, Vice President John Mahama said the voluntary service provided by the Japanese in teaching Science and Mathematics is very significant in supplementing the shortfall of teachers in those subjects.

The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana Kaichi Katakami thanked the Government of Ghana for the warm reception the volunteers have received over the years.  Since Ghana and Japan signed the agreement for voluntary service in 1977, over 968 volunteers have been assigned to Ghana.
