The Catholic Church in Ghana is mobilizing financial support from its members for donation to victims of the recent earth quake that hit parts of Haiti .. The Church has therefore directed all its Parishes, Rectorates and societies across the country to raise some amount at their local levels towards the gesture.
Speaking to Radio Ghana in Kumasi , the Ahinsan Parish Priest, Reverend Father Peter Nar, disclosed that so far members of the Christ the King Catholic Church at Ahinsan in Kumasi have mobilized more than 192 Ghana Cedis in this regard. The amount was contributed by members of the church during their Sunday Mass.
Reverend Father Nar explained that all the contributions are expected to be in monetary form adding that the gesture is the Church’s widow’s mite to alleviate the suffering of the earth-quake victims. Reverend Father Nar said all the total contribution in Ghana will be dispatched by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana to Haiti very soon.
Very Reverend Father Nar urged all Catholics and other humanitarian groups and individuals to contribute to this worthy cause.
