Minister calls for Sewerage Systems Privatization
Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashietey has called for the privatization of sewerage systems in the country. This he alleged is because the current sewerage situation is not encouraging due to mismanagement by some public officials.

Nii Ashietey said this when he toured some sewerage sites and green-belt zones in the Tema metropolis. He expressed concern about the siting of structures around the sewerage spots, saying it poses a health treat to residents.

Nii Ashietey called for the immediate destruction of the structures around the area.

Nii Ashietey also urged the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to eject car dealers at the Tema Motorway round-about, since the site is a green belt zone.

He said the site should always be kept green to enhance the image Tema as an industrial hub of the Country as proposed by the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Kempes Ofosuware assured the Minister that the Assembly will continue to pull down illegal structures in the Metropolis to maintain sanity.
