England are seeking to play Ghana in an international friendly in Wembley ahead of next year’s World Cup in South Africa.

According to a report in the English newspaper the Sun, the Black Stars are among the two sides being considered for the game in March.

The Ivory Coast is the other side being considered for the proposed friendly.

But the opponent will be decided when the draw for the 2010 World Cup is made early next month to ensure that they are not in the same group before the friendly is lined-up.

This means England skipper John Terry could warm up for the World Cup with a showdown against Chelsea team-mates Didier Drogba or Michael Essien.

The FA have pencilled in a Wembley friendly for March 3 next year with both Drogba's Ivory Coast and Essien's Ghana in the running to face Terry and his Three Lions.

England coach, Fabio Capello is believed to want African opposition for the last game before he names his provisional squad for South Africa.

An FA insider said: "We are confident both games would be a sellout. But nothing has been confirmed yet."
