Parents called to immunize wards
Immunization helps to eradicate illnesses such as measles and tetanus

The Western Regional Deputy Director in charge of Public Health, Dr. Kwaku Anin Karikari has appealed to parents to immunize their children right from birth to five years.

He said the exercise which is scheduled to begin today till Saturday will cover polio immunization for all children up to five years, de-worming of children from 2 to 5 years, and vitamin A supplementation for children from 5 months to 5 years.

He said there will also be the provision of vitamin A supplementation for breastfeeding mothers   within 2 months of delivery.

Dr. Karikari said an acute flaccid paralysis research carried out could not confirm polio case in the country.

This therefore makes it mandatory for all children between the set targets in order to eradicate illnesses such as measles, tetanus, HIV/AIDS, injuries, neonatal measles and malaria.

He mentioned that dogs and cats in the homes will also be counted alongside the house to house immunization on behalf of the Vertinary Department.
