President John Atta Mills has assured Ghanaians that the country will soon witness an increase in investors as a result of government’s determination to reduce armed-robbery, making Ghana a safe place for investment.
He said the safety of the citizenry and investors is paramount, hence government’s resolve to retool the security services to continue to reduce armed robbery to the bearest minimum.
President Mills said this when he addressed the chiefs and people of Adansi at Obuasi on the last day of his three day official visit to the Ashanti Region.
President Mills said government will not renege on its promises to the electorate. He gave the assurance that jobs would be created to absorb the large youth unemployment.
The Acting President of the Adansi Traditional Council Nana Sobinkam said the Adansi traditional Council which plays host to the mining company at Obuasi used to serve on the board of directors of the company.
However he said for un-explained reasons the council has been left out on the board. He called on the government to ensure that the council is restored to the Board.
Nana Sobinkam also called for the construction the obuasi town road which he said has developed huge man holes.
He said the road construction which was started by the previous NDC administration was abandoned by the NPP government and called on President Mills to complete it.
He also called for more jobs to be created in Obuasi to reduce the high rate of galamse by the youth.
The Minister of Roads and Highway Joe Gidisu said some government officials from his Ministry are in Japan to finalise a loan facility for the construction of Anwhiankwanta Obuasi, and the Bekwai-Yamoransa roads.
