The Food and Agriculture Organization has issued warnings of a possible food crisis in Ghana due to the effect of climate change on the continent.

The FAO mentioned drought followed by extensive floods in the three regions of the North as possible signs of climate change.

The FAO Regional Representative for Africa, Dr. Musah Farihou Mbanga stated this when he delivered a lecture in Accra on Climate Change and Food Security in Africa and Ghana in particular.

Dr. Mbanga said the phenomena will have an impact on more than one billion small scale farmers, fishermen and forest dependent people around the world.
