GBC Union appeals for Calm  
The Union chairman of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Reverend Ernest Opoku, has called for peace to prevail in GBC to foster good working relations between management and staff.

He was addressing unionized staff at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday at Broadcasting House in Accra.

Rev. Opoku noted that it is time management and the Board stopped operating on political lines and meddling in the affairs of the union. He expressed worry about posting of anonymous notices.

The Union Chairman expressed disappointment in Senior Management for not working with Junior Staff to Champion workers’ course. The Acting Divisional Union Chairman of GBC, Louis Darko expressed concern about the scanty pay of GBC workers and the long time it takes to get paid.

The Union refuted allegations that Executives have been collecting bribes that is why they are silent about issues concerning welfare of staff.

The Board of Directors of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on Tuesday directed that the Director-General of the Corporation William Ampem Darko should consume all his accumulated leave.

A statement signed by the Deputy Director-General, Kwabena Sarpong Anane says the decision was taken at the 10th Ordinary meeting of the Board that Mr. Ampem-Darko should continue with his accumulated leave.

He is expected to resume duty from his accumulated leave on February 9th next year.
