Students urged to be peace ambassadors
The Northern Regional Police Commander, ACP Angwubutoge Awuni has asked students from the three regions in the North to be ambassadors of peace in their regions.  The Police Commander was addressing the Tamale polytechnic branch of the BONABOTO Youth at a ceremony in Tamale.

ACP Awuni asked the students to form groups and preach peace to the leaders and elders of their various communities when they are on holidays. He reminded the students of the adverse effects of conflicts in the north saying that the area needs infrastructure like schools, hospitals and industries to enhance livelihoods for the people.

According to the Police Commander, the chunk of money allocated for development in the region is diverted towards the upkeep of security personnel who are in the area to maintain peace.  This, he said, has exposed the youth to exploitation in cities like Accra and Kumasi.

The Commanding Officer of the 6 Battalion of Infantry, Lt. Col J.A. Aphour asked female students not to rush into marriage, but rather pursue higher laurels in the academic arena before thinking of marriage.

The Municipal Police Commander,ASP Abanga Caesar, advised the students to be law abiding. He asked them to refrain from engaging in student disturbances since that could lead them into problems.

The occasion was used to swear in a new executive of the BONABOTO, an association of people from Bolgatanga, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo in the Upper East Region.

The New Executive has a five member body.
