The Ministry of the Interior has said Wednesday, July 1 (Republic Day), is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Cletus Avoka, Minister for the Interior.

In a related development, the Ministry of Information has announced that as part of activities to mark the 49th anniversary of the Republic of Ghana, the Information Service Department will mount a photographic exhibition at the foyer of the Ministry.

The exhibition, which started yesterday, Monday June 29, is expected to run till Sunday, July 5, 2009.

It said the department would also organize public film shows in the evenings at places such as Chorkor, Lante Man Preby School Park, the Mantse Agbonaa Park today and the Kwame Nkrumah Circle at the Obra Spot tomorrow, July I.

The rest are the Osu Ashanti Blohum Park, July 2; La Roman Junior High School Park, July 3; Teshie Cluster of Schools park on Thursday, July 4, and the Nungua Old Bus Stop on Friday, July 5.

Attendance to all the shows is free.
