Spain votes €240 million to support ECOWAS

A Special Summit between the Kingdom of Spain and ECOWAS was also held  in Abuja-Nigeria after the 36th Mid Year Summit.  Spain pledged to support the sub-region in the promotion of democratic institutions, Vocational and Technical Education, investment, trade and tourism and the fight against drug and human trafficking. 

Prime Minister, Zapatero, voted €240 million to support sub regional security and anti-narcotic operations for three years. 

A further €15 million has also been pledged to support ECOWAS fund for infrastructural development.
