The Minister for Energy Dr. Oteng Adjei has given the assurance that the planned production of oil at the Jubilee field in the fourth quarter of 2010 is on track. This is because the contractor engaged on the project are still committed to the production schedule.
Dr Oteng Adjei gave the assurance when he answered a question posed by Joe Baidoo-Ansah, MP for Effia Kwesimimtim. The member wanted to know whether the delay in signing the plan of development of the Jubilee field will not affect the planned production of oil by the end of 2010.
Dr Oteng Adjei explained that following the jubilee discovery, Tullow and Partners submitted a plan of development to government for review in accordance with the petroleum agreement. He said the plan was reviewed by a government team which raised a number of issues.
The Minister however, said most of these issues have been resolved and the negotiation process is about completed.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports, Stephen Ackah read a statement commending the national soccer team the Black Stars on their sterling performances in their World Cup group qualifying matches.
