“Doctors beyond the call of duty” is how the Ghanaian Times titles its editorial.  The paper, commends the gallant efforts of the Surgical Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for its assistance to victims of burns, natural and artificial deformities.  The Ghanaian Times says it is heart-warming that Ghanaian Doctors are able to perform such operations in the country thereby attracting other patients from the sub-region.  The paper mentions some distinguished Surgeons such as Dr. Albert Paintsil, Dr. J.E. Mensah, Professor Frimpong Boateng, who have made an indelible mark as well as added to the nation’s wealth of medical science.  It says Ghana’s name is now revered in medical circles across the world.  The paper hopes that soon Doctors in Ghana will be able to perform complicated kidney operations without foreign assistance.  The Times says all Doctors who have excelled in their fields of endeavour will be mentioned in dispatches because the feats they have chalked up have become memorials standing in their names.

The Daily Graphic comments on the state of investment in the country.  The paper says, although the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre has so far assisted in facilitating business, other areas such as the creation of free zone enclaves for foreign companies must also be exploited to boost investment in the country.  The paper lauds efforts by the President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, W.A. Krofah, who has extended an invitation to the International Business Community in Instanbul, Turkey.  This, the Graphic says, will push ahead the national agenda of making Ghana an investment destination for foreign businesses and also transform the economy and industrial environment of the country.  The Daily Graphic notes that the country abounds in many raw materials which demand the joint effort of local and foreign entrepreneurs to be transformed into value added products to earn foreign exchange on the International market.  The Daily Graphic urges Ghanaian businessmen and women to take advantage of international trade expositions to advertise Ghana’s vast industrial potential to their foreign counterparts.
