Aliu invites foreign election observers
Vice President Aliu Mahama

The Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama says the government is ready to welcome any foreign observer to the December polls.  Alhaji Aliu Mahama expressed the government’s readiness when he interacted with a two-member delegation from Konrad-Adenauer Foundation at the Castle.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Head of Department of the Foundation, Frank Spengler is in Ghana to ensure preparations towards the elections.  Alhaji Mahama said among the democratic credentials of the NPP are press freedom, and separation of powers.  He asked civil society to educate the electorate on the role they have to play to ensure successful elections, so that whoever wins would continue with the governance of the country.

The Vice President was grateful to the Foundation for being in Ghana for 42 years, during which it promoted democracy, good governance and the rule of law.  Mr. Spengler commended Ghana for implanting successive elections in a stable manner, stressing that other countries have not been that lucky.
