Ghana's Under-20 team, Black Satellites, banished three unsucessful attempts of qualifying to the Africa Youth Championship after a 1-0 away success at Gambia on Sunday. France-based Abeiku Quansah's second-half free-kick snatched the vital win that earned a ticket to Rwanda 2009. The Gambians needed a lone goal to eliminate the Satellites but failed to find the back of the net although they dominated play.
Ghana have missed out three Africa Youth Championships since placing fourth in Ethiopia in 2001 and going on to win silver at the world championship in Argentina.
"I said I was going to make it and I did it.Peole doubted this team's potentials and I'm happy we've proved them wrong," Head coach Sellas Tetteh an Accra based Radio Station Happy fm.
"For now I can't say anything but preparations have already begun for Rwanda. This is superb."
