Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia - NPP Presidential Running Mate

Ghana ’s Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of three billion dollars, has currently risen to 16 billion dollars, indicating that the country is on the verge of an economic break through.  This came about due to the sound economic management and policies of the NPP government since it assumed office in 2001.  The Running Mate of the Party, Dr.  Mahamadu Bawumia, made this known at a meeting with the Tertiary Education, Students Confederation of the NPP, TESCON at the Koforidua Polytechnic.

He said Ghana ’s economy which used to be in shambles due to political instability, has now seen transformation.  Dr. Bawumia noted that President Kufuor has laid a better political and economic foundation which needs to be followed by the party and called on Ghanaians to vote for the NPP.  According to him, the party has made a track record and needs to build on it.  Dr. Bawumia announced plans to turn the economy of the country into an industrial one where raw materials produced will be processed before exportation.

He called for the maintenance of peace in the country during and after the elections adding that no nation can develop without peace.  The MP for New Juaben North, Hackman Owusu Agyeman, said the NPP has achieved a lot in the past seven years in areas such as education and infrastructure, saying this is a demonstration that the party can rule Ghana .

He said the perennial water problem experienced by the people of Koforidua and its environs will soon be a thing of the past since a project is being carried out for a constant supply of water from the Volta River .

Mr. Owusu Agyeman asked members of TESCON to act as agents and explain to the public the good work done by the party in order to win more votes and retain power.  A woman activist in the party, Gloria Ofori Buadu assured the youth of good jobs when the party wins power and an improvement of the economy.
