To the paper, causes of fire outbreaks are well known but the country ignores the real issue and play down the threat until another disaster strikes. The Daily Graphic calls on traders at the markets and the fire service personal to ensure that the markets are well fitted with fire extinguishers to prevent anymore fire outbreaks.
The Independent encourages Ghanaians to maintain the peace the country is enjoying during the elections. The paper says the security agencies have a job to ensure that, no group or individual disturbs the peace in the country.
The Chronicle agrees with President Kufuor’s call for Moslem parents to educate their children. The paper believes this type of education should be the western type that provides both religious and scientific knowledge. The Chronicle says though it is not against the Makaranta type of education it should rather serve as a complement to the western education, making graduates ripped for job opportunity all over the world.
The Crusading Guide dedicates its editorial to the memory of the late Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Kwadwo Baa Wiredu. To the paper, its unfortunate that he has left at a time when his dream of propelling the New Patriotic Party’s quest to move Ghana Forward in the election is nearing fruition. The paper urges the Danquah-Busiah family to use Baah Wiredu’s death to unite all the factions of the Danquah-Busia tradition.
