A peace forum with a raod map in support of peace in Tamale
The Northern Ecumenical Forum, a peace promotion body, comprising Christians and Muslims in Tamale has initiated a road map to support individuals and organizations seeking peace and security in the Northern Region.  The Chairman of the Forum, and the Catholic Archbishop of Tamale, Reverend Gregory Kpiebaya, announced this when members of the forum met with the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Iddris, in Tamale following the recent clashes at Tamale and Gushiegu.

The Catholic Archbishop of Tamale said the forum will plan a peace march to sensitize the people to the significance of peace to national development.  He said the body will also organize a special fasting and prayer programme for Christians and Muslims for violence-free election in December.

Rev. Kpiebaya condemned the acts of violence and pleaded with political leaders and their supporters to desist from illegal possession of arms.  Alhaji Iddris commended the forum for its peace efforts and called on politicians, chiefs and religious leaders to support such missions.  He said the welfare of the people is at the centre of a common agenda and this can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and security.
