The Director of the Department of Urban Roads, Isaac Mensah has advocated the need for the media to show interest in educating the public on the newly introduced Bus Rapid Transportation system by the sector.  He said the system which was launched in September last year seeks to deliver fast, comfortable and reliable transportation system for the public. 

The 95 million dollar initiative, which is also under the Urban Transport Project is being funded by the government of Ghana, the World Bank, Global Environmental facility and Agence Francaise de Development.  Mr. Mensah said in order to ensure the successful implementation of the project; the media should do more in this direction. 

He believes such a strategic partnership with the media will help ensure ownership and sustainability of the project.  Delivering a presentation on the project, the team leader Ludwig Hesse said the project which is expected to start on a pilot basis from the Mallam to Accra route next year will also ensure safety and comfortability of all passengers. 

He therefore called for closer collaboration among Stakeholders especially the media, government and the District Assemblies to make the project a success.
