Women in Ghana Politics attain 50
The President of Women in Broadcasting (WIB), Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo has underscored the need for training for women editors and writers.  This will help them to contribute in decision making and policy formulation in political circles.  She said this at the 2nd Graduation ceremony held in Accra, to mark 50 years of Women in Ghana Politics.  The occasion was also used to launch a book containing profiles of 20 distinguished women from different backgrounds and experiences.  The book “Women on the wheels of History” was compiled by Miss Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo and Mrs. Rose Mensah-Kutin.

The Executive Director of Gender Studies and Human Rights Documentation Centre, Mrs. Dorcas Coker-Appiah asked women to break barriers that hinder political participation.  She urged women to be determined and persistent to gain political recognition.  Mrs. Coker-Appiah advised government to draw a favourable framework to eliminate gender discrimination. The Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs promised that her Ministry will continue to advocate and educate Ghanaians on the need to make women an integral part of society.
