The German government has earmarked 45 million euros to build a worldwide network of one thousand partner schools through which the interest of the German language would be enhanced. A statement issued by the Federal Republic of Germany said the money would be co-ordinated by the Federal Foreign Office and implemented in co-operation with the Central Agency for schools abroad the Goethe-Institute, Educational Exchange Service and the German Academic Exchange Service.
The statement said the network would develop fruitful and long lasting relationship with Germans, schools, teachers and inspire students to exchange ideas. It said an internet learning platform hosted by the Goethe Institute would enable students to interact with one another across the world and communicate in German and help teachers in providing web-based lessons.
