The 55th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks in Cuba has been observed with a call on Ghanaians to work hard and dedicate themselves to all facets of life for national development.  Speaking at a forum in Accra, a former benefactor of a Cuban scholarship, Ben Anyagre, noted that although Cuba is limited in natural resources like gold or cocoa, the country has been able to make significant strides in improving the lives of its people.
He mentioned for instance free access to education and quality health care delivery as some of the successes chalked up by the country.

Mr Anyagre said all these have been possible through the hard work, dedication and selflessness of the people. He entreated the youth to actively involve themselves in the decision making process.
The anniversary marks the celebration of the overthrow of the Fulgencio Bastita regime some 49 years ago, spearheaded by Cuba’s former President Fidel Castro.  The Deputy Head of Cuban Mission in Ghana, Nilena Zalddivar Piedra, said Cuba has deployed 36,000 medical staff to 170 countries across the world to assist in quality health care delivery.
