Pregnant women in Sunyani commend President Kufuor

Over 200 pregnant women in Sunyani yesterday converged at the Sunyani Health Insurance Scheme Office for free registration. The women who wanted to enjoy the free health care facility for pregnant women commended President Kufuor for the policy.

They however expressed their dissatisfaction with the slow registration exercise and appealed to the official of the scheme to speed up their work. The Public Relations Officer of the Scheme, George Oppong disclosed that between the 46th and 13th of this month, the scheme has registered 800 pregnant women in the Municipality free of charge.

He advised pregnant women to patronise the exercise with their antenatal cards. According to Mr. Oppong, the free delivering policy by the government is to help reduce maternal death and child mortality in the country. The Public Relations Officer also advised husbands of pregnant women to register with the NHIS scheme as government is helping to register their wives free.
