Women have been urged to demonstrate modesty at all levels and assert themselves in all spheres of national life. This is because as mothers, they are molders of character as well as role models for the future generation. The Head Pastor of Gospel Missionaries International Church, Rev. Jonathan Newman-Otsiwah gave the advice at the church’s Women’s’ Day celebration which forms part of activities marking this year’s Republic Day at Galilea near Kasoa in the Central Region.
He reminded women of their key responsibility of instilling good morals in their children to enable them to stand firm under the pressure of life. Rev. Newman-Otsiwah expressed concern about indecent dressing in public. This, he said is a contributory factor to the high incidence of rape in the country.
He advised women to dress modestly and decently and avoid dressing to impress the opposite sex. Rev. Newman-Otsiwah cautioned the youth against anti-social vices such as alcoholism, drug, abuse and pre-marital sex saying they can ruin their lives.
The Women Fellowship leader, Mrs. Abigail Newman-Otsiwah advised compatriots especially the youth to avoid seductive dressing which promote immorality and lead to the spread of HIV/AIDS.
In her view, women make good managers as evidenced by the way they manage their household to compliment the efforts of men. Women must therefore be encouraged and motivated to give off their best.
The Guest Speaker, Madam Juliana Coffie was overwhelmed by the impunity with which some women put on all kinds of indecent and skimpy dresses to church services and other social events. She advised mothers to support their husbands to give equal attention to their daughters in formal education to enable them to grow up as useful leaders.
