Medical officer warns of the dangers of smoking and alcohol intake
A Senior Medical Officer of University Hospital at Legon, Dr. Matthew Kwame Edusei says unhealthy lifestyles such as excessive intake of alcoholic beverages and smoking could lead to hypertension, stroke, heart failure and other sicknesses.  He advised Ghanaians to reduce salt and food that contain fat or much cholesterol.  Dr. Kwame Edusei gave the advice at a health programme organised by the members of Asante Kotoko Kroye Kuo made up of Ashantis resident at Madina in Accra.

He asked the public to eat natural foods, fruits and vegetables as well as exercise regularly to enable them to be healthy and live longer.  Dr. Kwame Edusei called on hypertensive patients to follow instructions on their diet and drugs to improve their healthy system.  He stressed the need for people to ensure fundamental primary prevention of diseases by observing personal hygiene.  An executive member of the association, S.Y. Manu and the Public Relations Officer Appiah Brobbey appealed to Ghanaians to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme and also attend hospital for regular check up.
