Maj Quashigah charges Ghanaians to go back for good traditions
Health Minister Courage

The Minister of Health, Major Courage Quashigah, has called on Ghanaians to revisit abandoned ideal traditional practices, such as good communal relationships, consumption of local staple foods and use of local fabrics.  This he said will not only ensure healthy lifestyles for the up-coming generation, but also help eradicate most diseases.  Major Quashigah made the call at a seminar organized by the Adenta Municipal Assembly on regenerative health for organized groups and traditional rulers at Adenta.

Major Quashigah, noted that Ghanaians can live healthily to extend their life span and save money for development projects and productive hours spent in health facilities, if they will recognize the essence of consuming more fruits and vegetables.  He bemoaned the high consumption of meat in the country, saying Ghanaians have been misled into believing that meat is the only major source of protein.

A Nutrition Specialist with the Regenerative Health Programme, Roeeyah Baht Israel, said obesity is not genetic, but a disease of choice, which can be dealt with through a change in attitude.  She explained that the major cause of obesity is eating empty foods to satisfy taste and the stomach.  She therefore encouraged Ghanaians to eat meals that will fortify the body to avoid diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
