Taxi Drivers in Koforidua have expressed disappointment with the government’s frequent increase in petroleum prices. This is because transport fares and prices of basic necessities such as food are on the increase. A cross-section of drivers expressed these sentiments in an interview with Radio Ghana in Koforidua.
The Jumapo station Manager John Sarpong said from January to this Month fuel prices have been increased three times making the job of determination of fares.
He said because of the increase in fuel prices, passengers do not patronize taxi cabs. They prefer using the Metro Mass Transport buses.
He said fuel prices increased from GHC5.10 per gallon to GHC5.30 and is now five Ghana cedi 30 pesewas a gallon. Mr. Sarpong said although there has been an increase in the fuel prices, driverswere not supposed to increase fares.
