Bentil extends stay in Vietnam

Former Ghana U-17 captain Emmanuel Bentil has extended his stay with Vietnamese side Khanh Hoa.

The 30-year-old signed a one-year extension to his expiring contract that leaves him at the club until June 2009.

Bentil, the brother-in-law of Ghana captain Stephen Appiah, was handed the new contract despite concerns over his fitness.

"Emmanuel Bentil is now 30 years old so I worry most about his fitness," Khanh Hoa coach coach Le Huu Tuong said.

Even though Bentil is a midfielder he is expected to replace Nigerian striker Testim Babatunde Fatusi, who was dropped by the club.

The Ghanaian has struggled with a knee injury since 2000 which led to him being offloaded by German giants Bayern Munich.
