The cultural Initiatives Support Programme has been launched in Accra as a first call for proposal for activities and initiatives that enhance Ghana’s cultural sector. The programme is a three-year initiative under which the European Union has provided Ghana with a €2m grant to support the cultural sector.

The call for proposals was launched in compliance with European Development Fund (EDF) regulations, and in close collaboration with the national authorizing office of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the National Commission on Culture.

The Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Ghana, Ambassador Filiberto Ceriani Sebregondi, said the call is to provide assistance to individuals and organisations working in the cultural sector to realize their initiatives and objectives.

He said culture promotes diversity and contributes significantly to the global order of peace and respect for shares values including activities to help promote an inclusive society and contribute to preventing and reducing poverty and social exclusion.
