Vice President John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday said Ghana owed her excellent democratic credentials to the good work of previous parliamentarians and organisations that lent their support. Vice President Mahama in a speech read for him by the Deputy Minister of Health, Mr Rojo Mettle Nunoo, said former parliamentarians were better placed to bear testimony of the organisations and groups whose contributions to parliamentary democracy and good governance had brought the country this far.
President John Evans Atta has commended the outgoing South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Zodwa Lallie, for her good works during her duty tour of Ghana. The High Commissioner who has been in the country for about a year, has been “redirected”.
President John Evans Atta Mills on Monday swore-in Mr. Mahama Ayariga, former Presidential Spokesperson, as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, and expressed appreciation for his loyal service to the Government. He swore the Oaths of Allegiance, Secrecy and Deputy Minister of State which were administered by President Mills and presented with the Instrument of Office.
The Minister for the Interior, has on the advice of the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument, renewed the curfews imposed on the Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township. The curfew which covers the immediate environs of the conflict area for another week takes effect from Monday, March 15, 2010.
President John Evans Atta Mills on Friday received Dr. Mohamed "Mo" Ibrahim, Founder of Mo Ibrahim Foundation, at the Osu Castle in Accra, and stressed the need for the use of political power to improve the quality of life of the people.
