NHC to discuss "Chieftaincy, Peace and Unity, a National Challenge" at IDEG
The President of the National House of Chiefs, NHC, Naa Professor John Nabila will on Thursday discuss "Chieftaincy, Peace and Unity a National Challenge" at a lecture organised by the Institute for Democratic Governance, IDEG in Accra.

The lecture is against the background that despite the impressive economic achievements chalked up over the past few years, critical development challenges still remain unresolved.

A statement by IDEG noted that poverty, health and sanitation are still unresolved challenges the nation is going through.

In the face of these, political leaders are more concerned about pitching one region or district against the other, politicizing development policies and compromising the urgent need to improve the livelihood of the citizenry.

The statement noted that this approach to politics poses the danger of partitioning the nation and creating the potential for violent conflicts and therefore called for the ceasation of such tendencies.

In the view of IDEG, traditional rulers are the people who appear to be mobilizing their people for peace and development of communities.

These are issues that the lecture by Naa Prof Nabila will seek to address at this platform created by IDEG for eminent chiefs to speak to the nation.
