Government In Talks To Find Solution To Intended Strike By Ghana Medical Association

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Robert Cudjoe, says the Ministry is in talks to find a solution to the issues raised by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to prevent its intended strike. 

Speaking on Uniiq FM's Current Affairs Programme, ‘Behind The News’, Mr. Cudjoe urged the GMA to exercise restraint as government comes up with the appropriate remedies for their grievances. 

Meanwhile, a labour expert, Ben Arthur says the 7-day ultimatum by the GMA is not enough for government to resolve the doctors' issues. 

However, he expects an agreement to be reached at an earliest possible date. He called on both sides to show good faith in dealing with the problems. 

Mr. Arthur thinks the issue presents an opportunity to look at the law on strike again as there is no law backing an industrial action by medical Doctors.
