He said the positive outcomes of implementing the Mother Baby Friendly Health Initiative, MBFHI, can serve as useful guides to meet the target of reaching every newborn.  

Dr. Ofosu who made assertion at an inter-regional stakeholders review meeting on newborn care in Bolgatanga, said the active participation of stakeholders in the annual review meetings is one good practice that has to be sustained. 

He said the theme of the review meeting which is “Reaching every Newborn, Count down to 2030; don’t leave me out” reinforces of the priority areas of focus under the National Newborn Health Strategy and Action Plan 2014-2018. 

He said the focus area aims at addressing inequalities in maternal and newborn care; promoting scale-up and sustainability and more importantly, implementing a strong Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy where every baby is counted.
