Remain forthright - Draman tells Parliament as it decides on Kennedy Agyapong

Deputy Chairman of the Privileges Committee of Parliament, Andrew Egyapa-Mercer, says the House  will sit today (July 28), to decide on whether to reprimand or suspend MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong for describing Parliament as cheap. 

Mr Agyapong was dragged before the Committee by the Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mubarak Muntaka, over the alleged contemptuous comments against Parliament and the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu. 

Speaking on GBC's News and Current Affairs Programme, 'Behind the News', Mr Mercer said he is optimistic that after the House makes its decision today, all disputes concerning the issue will be put to rest.

Meanwhile, Executive Director, African Center for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Rasheed Draman says he hopes the Privileges Committee will perform an honest job regardless of the relationship they have with Mr. Agyapong. 

He said an honest job will enhance Ghanaians trust in Parliament.
