Police search for truck driver who run into traders at Ashaiman market Police in Ashaiman say the driver who ploughed a truck load of building blocks into traders and pedestrians at the market yesterday (July 27), is on the run. The Ashaiman Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) Commander, DSP Issac Kojo Forson is appealing to the public to provide information on the driver to be picked up to assist with investigations. DSP Forson said during the pandemonium, first responders were interested in assisting the victims, which led to the escape of the driver in question. One person is confirmed dead, with six others sustaining various degrees of injuries when a Kia Rhino truck with registration number ER-5112 X run into some traders and pedestrians at the Ashaiman main market traffic light. The truck also destroyed six private vehicles parked on the shoulder of the road. Reports say, the truck's break allegedly failed and veered into the traders and pedestrians. Police say the body of the deceased female has been deposited at the Tema General Hospital morgue, while the six injured are responding to treatment.
