EC Nominee Jean Meansa Not Politically Neutral - NDC 

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), says it is outraged and shocked at the decision to appoint Mrs. Jean Mensa as the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC). 

Its National Organiser, Kofi Adams who spoke on GBC’s news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News’ said the party has worked with Mrs. Mensa and can confidently say she has never been a politically neutral person. 

Mr Adams said the Executive Director of the IEA is a known sympathiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it even reflected in her work at the IEA. 

Mr Adams spoke with  with host Ibrahim Kwarteng.

For his part, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor, said the President considered a number of issues which are in the best interest of the country before appointing Mrs Jean Mensa and three others to the Electoral Commission. 

He said various stakeholders were consulted before the appointment.

Mr Jinapor said there is no cause for alarm as the four are competent persons for the positions they have been nominated for.
