Fight against corruption requires selfless men- Railways Minister

The Minister of Railway and Development, Joe Ghartey says the fight against corruption needs honest, committed, responsible and faithful people who will deny themselves, for the government to eliminate such a canker in order not to disgrace and destroy the future of the country. 

Mr. Joe Gartey, who is the  member of parliament of Esikado constituency  asserted at the Methodist Men's fellowship third Koomson, Enchia Memorial lecture's at sekondi ,Wesley Methodist Cathedral in the Western Region.

The association of Methodist men's fellowship has instituted the Koomson /Ackale /Enchia memorial lectures to honour the founding father's for their hard work and had left an incredible mark for posterity. 

The lectures is also organized annually to raise men of vision who have initiated ideas to support the Association. At the just ended third Koomson, Ackale Enchia, Memorial lectures, Timothy Ewudzi Osam-Duodu and Wilfred Hayford Achampong was honoured for their effective role played to support the development of the Association.

They were giving citation, certificate and a full piece of Kente clothes.

It was on the theme: "Eliminating of corruption in the Ghanaian society through effective Christian stewardship.

"This year memorial lectures took a different dimension where two members of the Association were honoured for their commitment  dedication and a high sense of responsibility towards their mandate astheir mandates as good stewards.

The lectures was focused on Elimanting corruption in the country. 

The connexional Chairman of the Association of Methodist Men's Fellowship, George Opare Baidoo, said it is time for all Christians to unite to fight against corruption at their working places. 

He said the only way to fight the canker is to create a system to monitor each and every officer at the work place even at the church. 

Mr. Baidoo advised all religious leaders to continue preaching against corruption at their various churches. 

Speaking on the theme: "Eliminating of corruption in the Ghanaian society through effective Christian stewardship,the Minister of Railway and Development and MP for Essikado constituency, Mr. Ghartey gave some scriptures from the Holy Bible that condemns corruption. 

He said government can not fight against corruption alone it behoves on every Christian to join the crusade against corruption.

Mr. Ghartey said Ghana has a good future leaders but if corruption continue to be a canker it will affect economy and future development of the country.
