Government to eradicate poverty through industrialization - Trade Ministry discloses Head of Industrialization and Partnership at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Papa Kow Bartels on Friday [July 20], has revealed government's commitment to eradicate poverty through industrialization to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD's). Speaking at the National Corporate of Social Organizations (CSO) forum on Social Enterprise and Impact Investing, Mr. Kow Bartels said partnering with Social Enterprise also known as SE Ghana has been fulfilling considering the impact and the achievement of the organization. Social Enterprise (SE) Ghana is a network of Social Entrepreneurs which are individuals with innovative and effective solutions to society's most pressing social problems. Mr. Kow Bartels highlighted that, "the Ministry partnered with SE Ghana because there is the need of ensuring that, there are policies that can over rank social enterprise development. Adding that, it is critical because, in the past people go into communities doing something's and then call it social responsibility" Participants were presented with a four chapter policy draft dubbed Ghana Social Enterprise Policy (GSEP) in fulfilment of government's commitment to promote and grow social enterprises as a means of livelihood, particularly among the youth and contribute to job creation and the achievement of the SDG's. Speaking on the theme of the forum "Achieving the SDG's through Innovative and Social Enterprise", Mr. Kow Bartel emphasized that, "the Ministry of Trade and Industry has found it necessary to encourage private sector organisations to venture into Social Enterprise businesses and then plague back profit into society so as to address the issues surrounding SDG's". He outlined a 5Ps model which he explained to be the focus of the government. That is to totally reduce poverty, ensure production which is to creates jobs, to promote prosperity and peace and finally to secure the well of the people. Mr. Kow Bartels also stated the plan of the Ministry to train and build the capacity of such enterprises. "With SE Ghana, we will put together stuffs which will be able to train enterprises on emerging issues of strategic economical achievements ". He admonished Ghanaians to patronise domestic products adding that, such acts will improve domestic and export trade issues and add growth to the economy.
