Ghana selected to implement Integrated Ocean Management Project

Ghana has been selected by the Abidjan Convention and the German Ministry of Environment to implement a two-year Integrated Ocean Management Project at the cost of seven hundred and seventy-six thousand (776,000) Euros. 

Known as the "Mami Wata Project", it aims at strengthening national capacity for Ecosystem Management of Coastal Areas, prepare a state of Marine Environment Report, and develop a Marine Spatial Planning for Ghana. 

Signing an initial agreement to that effect, a Deputy Executive Director, Technical Division Services of the Environmental Protection Agency, Ebenezer Appah-Sampong, said the project has come at an opportune time when the discovery of oil and gas has brought more pressure on management of the ocean.
