Call for Independent probe into alleged controversial Asawasi shooting

Security Expert Adib Saani has described as shocking the shooting of the seven suspected armed robbers at Asawasi by the Police and has called for an Independent Enquiry into the matter. 

Speaking on GBC’s “Behind the News”, Mr. Saani noted that the police did not manage information well because initial information received contradicts what is currently being communicated to the public. 

Seven community members were shot to death by the police earlier this week.

The police alleged the deceased persons were suspected armed robbers who opened fire on them, an allegation the community members have been quick to dispute.

Meanwhile, GBC's Ashanti Regional Correspondent Georgina Ama Ankomah, says Asawasi is calm due to timely intervention of the Military.
