President Akufo-Addo salutes Prof Azumah Nelson on 60th birthday

President Akufo-Addo has sent goodwill message to boxing legend Professor Azumah Nelson, on his 60th birthday celebration.

In a tweet Thursday President Akufo-Addo stated: “Happy 60th Birthday to “The Professor”, Azumah ‘Zoom Zoom’ Nelson.”

“Undoubtedly, one of Ghana's boxing greats. I wish him good health, long life and prosperity,” he added.

Meanwhile, an elaborate programme to mark the 60th birthday of the WBC super featherweight of all-time has been announced.

The three-time world boxing champion turned 60 on Thursday July 19 but will be decorated by the World Boxing Council (WBC) with an award on Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

The iconic global figure has been taken stock of his enviable career which spanned over a decade.

He has been spending private time with his family, friends and associates at his residence as he reflects on his illustrious career.

Professor Azumah Nelson is a Ghanaian former professional boxer. Widely considered the greatest African boxer of all time, and is currently the 17th greatest pound for pound boxer of all time in Boxrec's ranking, he held the WBC featherweight title once and the WBC super featherweight title twice.
