Aduana Picks firs vital win in Africa


Two quick first half goals from midfielder Bright Adjei and striker Yahaya Mohammed ensured Ghana's only rep in Africa Aduana Stars pluck their first win against AS vita Club of Congo in the Caf Confederation cup third round match.

Bright Adjei slotted the homesters in front in the 3rd minute when he benefited from a neatly worked out ball from Yahaya Mohammed in the 18 yard who unselfishly gave the ball to him to hit the ball past the goalkeeper to fectch the opener.At this time it was a deja vu Aduana wanted to win and also push themselves in the competion regardless of the lack of competitive football due to Anas' expose which has brought everythin football to a halt.

Aduana continued with the pressure,dictating the pace of the game pinning the visitors to their area.Seven minutes later a Caleb Amankwah's inviting cross found striker Yahaya Mohammed heading home the cushioning bringing Aduana to a two goal lead after ten minutes.

Whilst it looked like we were heading for an avalanche of goals with Aduana looking voracious at this juncture,the Congolese lifted themseleves from the woods settling in the game as they begun to show glimpses of quality, taking charge of possession attacking along the flanks.In the 25th minute a Congolese striker was brought down on the edge of the Aduana's area and with a well-rehearsed pattern Muzinga bumped the ball into the net in the 26th minute as Joseph was found sprawling in his area.

The goal almost immediately changed the complexion building the confidence of the visitors in a whimper.They made series of incursions into Aduana's area

however though, failed to utilize those chances as the first half ended 2-1 advantage Aduana.

With the visitors going into the dressing room with so much fire it was expected they were going to come in lots of aggressions to draw even but the Fire boys of Aduana came into the second half looking composed.

With their new coach who is noted for his tenacious strategy and endurance haven seen that whilst with Hearts and Inter Allies it was left to be seen what his strategy would be. Aduana resorted to a counterproductive football and pragmatism soaking the pressure and going on the offensive as and when it mattered. This tactic helped Aduana to hold onto that early first half lead. 

They both were profligate fluffing various chances falling their way which could have the story for either side if maximized, but the Ghanaians however held on tight to their lead bringing them to the second position with four points after a third round of matches.

Coach Kenichi made four changes to the team that drew 3-3 with Raja Casablanca on the 16th of may under Yusif Abubacar. The coach would have to work hard to stabilize his midfield inspite of the fleet of quality he has there in Zackaria Mumuni, Elvis opoku.

This victory furtherly becomes Aduana's first win in the group phase of any organised Caf competitive and it pushes them to the second position with 4points below Vita.
