Young oil and gas professionals trained in proposal writing The Society for Petroleum Engineers, a Global Association has organised a workshop to sensitize students and young professionals in the Oil and Gas Industry on Proposal Writing and Presentation. Speaking at the workshop, the Chairman of the Society, Ghana Section, Ato Aidoo said the workshop was to help students in the field in Ghana to compete favourably with their counterparts in other parts of the world in proposal writing and presentation. Every year, the society for Petroleum Engineers organises a contest in proposal writing and presentation for students on rotational basis. This year the event took place in Ghana but the scripts of the Ghanaians who participated in the contest did not meet the global standard. Based on this, the Ghana Charter of the society therefore embarked on a sensitisation workshop to help Ghanaians to compete favorably with their counterparts in other parts of the world. Speaking at the workshop, the Chairman of the society, Ghana section, Ato Aidoo said the abysmal performance of the Ghanaians was worrying thus the workshop. A member of the society Dr. Riverson Oppong took participants through proposal writing and presentation saying there is the need to identify a problem, conduct research to find a possible solution to the problem while sticking to the rules of the industry. The participants were from University of Ghana, Legon, The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST), University of Mines and the University of Professional Studies, (UPSA).
