Effects of corruption on development in Ghana
Who must lead the way and show commitment in the fight?
Despite Ghana’s good governance and democratic credentials, corruption still remains cancerous in our society. It can be said that corruption in Ghana is not just a mere perception. It is now very worrying as different sources of data point to a higher corruption index in Ghana. Empirical evidence also associates extreme poverty and inequality to high levels of corruption. The economic loss suffered by Ghana because of corruption is enormous. How can we as citizens help deal with this situation? Because you know what, some have argued that corruption induces cynicism, because people begin to regard it as the norm over time.
Again, it is said to undermine social values because people find it easier and more lucrative to engage in it than to seek legitimate employment? Do you agree? What should or must be the most effective approach to fighting corruption? Who must lead the way and show commitment in the fight? Where should it start from?
