ECG’s indebtedness 'crippling' operations of GRIDCo – CEO

The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has been lamenting about the losses it is incurring as a result of the recent reduction in electricity tariff by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC). 

The Chief Executive of GRIDCo, Jonathan Amoako-Baah said the amount can be used for maintenance issues, payment of compensation and service loans contracted from external development partners. 

He stated that though the tariff reduction is significant to customers, it is having a negative impact on their operations. 

Gridco is also not happy about the huge indebtedness of the ECG to GRIDCo. 

Energy experts believe the prevailing situation could stifle GRIDCo's work if not properly addressed.
