Kpandai: 80 PWDs Benefit from Disability Fund

As part of its social protection program aimed at alleviating poverty among persons with disabilities, the Kpandai District Assembly has presented some items and cheques worth one hundred and five thousand, six hundred and fifty Ghana cedis to Eighty Persons Living with Disabilities at Kpandai in the Kpandai District of the Northern region.  

The items comprised of freezers, sowing machines, ice chest with some cash amount. 

The gesture is aimed at supporting Persons Living with Disabilities to venture into productive and income generating activities to better their living standards. 

The District Chief Executive of the area, Kojo Tatablata, who donated the items, advised the beneficiaries to put the monies and items to good use to improve their livelihoods. 

He commended government and the Common Fund Administration for managing the disability fund efficiently for proper disbursement to all members.  

Mr. Tatablata said so far the assembly has supported the mental health unit with an amount of five thousand, two hundred Ghana cedis to purchase drugs for those with mental health conditions. 

He added that a brand new motorbike was also presented to the unit to assist personnel in the distribution of drugs to patients.  

The Chairman, Association of Persons with Disabilities, in the district, James Gariba, was grateful to the assembly for their show of transparency in the identification, selection and distribution of the items and monies to members of the association. 

He said the donation had come at the right time and it will help them expand their businesses and improve upon their livelihoods. 

In all Forty-Nine of the beneficiaries received cheque each for One thousand, four hundred cedis while others took home freezers, sowing machines, ice chest with some cash amount.
