Broader consultation needed in appointment of new EC Governance expert and a Director at Center for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana, Dr Kojo Asante, is calling for broader consultation, devoid of partisanship in the appointment of a new Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson and Commissioners. Dr Asante believes the President should go beyond the minimum requirement of consultations with the Council of State to get a suitable candidate to oversee the Country's electoral body. He spoke to Ibrahim Kwarteng on our news and current affairs programme “Behind the News.” Meanwhile a member of CODEO Albert Kofi Arhin expects the President to appoint people who will be accepted by citizens after broad-based consultations with political parties and civil society organisations. Still on the EC, a private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu called for an institutional audit at the Commission. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
