Fire guts Radach Hotel in Lamashegu, Tamale

Hundreds of guests including media practitioners attending a workshop escaped death when fire gutted the popular Radach Hotel at Lamashegu, a suburb of Tamale. 

The fire which started around 7 am in one of the hotel rooms forced guests to rush outside for safety after the sound of a fire alarm at the hotel. 

A quick response by personnel from the Ghana National Fire service brought the situation under control before it could cause major havoc. 

In the course of the fire incident, the over hundred including thirty journalists managed to escape unhurt. 

Assistant Station Officer, Frank Baah told Radio Ghana that the fire outbreak was caused by power fluctuation. 

He explained that, the air-condition in room 88 got overheated as a result of power fluctuations, and sparked fire which later extended to a wooden table beneath. 

Meanwhile, management of the hotel has expressed regret at the fire incident describing it as unfortunate.
